UK Food Bloggers Association

Hi everyone,

Just a note to let you know that I'm going through the member list and removing any blatantly fake/spam profiles and those that are clearly only advertising non-food or blogging related sites.

I do hope that everyone can appreciate that, whilst I want the community to be as open as possible, I'm keen to keep the site a nice place for bloggers and friends of the bloggers to interact and keep us as free from spam as I can. It can sometimes be a difficult judgement to make so in the unfortunate event that someone is mistaken as a spammer please do contact me: julia@ukfba.co.uk

If you do notice any such material being posted do feel free to drop me a line and I'll do my best to keep on top of it.

Best,
Julia x

Hey Julia - I think this is a good idea. The UKFBA has for me become a nice place to interact with fellow food bloggers so it'd be a shame if we were invaded by non foodies or people just wanting to blatantly advertise!

Keep up the good work.

Matt

Hi Julia,

I actually noticed quite a few yesterday... But one called "LiuHui" selling fake Tiffanys jewellry and other rubbish from China... And there was another one selling Bath towels! I did think it was a bit random to be fair!
I think you may have your work cut out for you!

Hi Julia

Good luck with it. It's always difficult to keep a forum spam free, but it has to be done to keep the place usable for members who really do want to join in, contribute, and make friends.

Hi Julia,

It can be a difficult job stopping those spammers but there are a few things you can do, there is a free service called Askimet which is very very good at recognising fake posts/people.

Also you could put a link to 'report' posts that are spam, this way we can help you find the offenders.
