Hi everyone, I'm a new UK FBA member, and am lucky enough to live a few minutes' walk from Borough Market. So guess where you'll find me every Saturday morning? Anyway, I thought I'd share with you a few of my favourite stalls.
There's a new fish stall, called simply Devon Fish, which has a small but perfectly formed selection that's brought up directly from some Devon boats each Saturday. As well as lots of beautifully fresh mackerel, squid, whiting etc, a couple of weeks ago, I actually got a sea bass roe from there. Something I'd never come across before. (See what I did with it here...) The stall is at the top of the Jubilee Market area.
Also in the Jubilee Market is a woman who sells the most magnificent eggs I have ever tasted. I don't know the name of her stall, but she sells beef from her farm in Devon, and has a table to the side with a small number of boxes of eggs. If mismatched-sized eggs with bright yellowy-orange yolks are your thing, go and try!
Finally, there is The Flour Station, also in the Jubilee Market. I recently discovered it was another of Jamie O's ventures, and I have to grudgingly admit, another hugely successful one. The muffins and almond croissants are TO DIE FOR! And the tortano bread (made with potato flour) has become a Saturday-lunch staple for me.
Okay, I'm done.

BM is paradise on a sunny winter afternoon! My partners gave a 10 on 10 to the ostrich burgers, the mulled wine is always to die for - I keep debating if it'll taste just as good at home, and the buffalo mozzarella is the most awesome from here! I have to try the Raclette and the veggie table next time!

My word - visited Borough Market for the first time last week... what wonderful stuff! I love that they have an information point, somebody actually walked me over to some of the stall I was looking for! <3
I bought all sorts of fine things from chocolates and turkish delight through to beer! I'll be reviewing my purchases very soon over at www.foodstufffinds.co.uk

I visited Borough market for the first time last weekend...and OMG I have never been anywhere so wonderful! (Perhaps I don't get out much!)

The atmosphere was lovely, and I could honestly have spent many more than the two hours that I did....(Was somewhat 'rushed around' by the people I was with) and much more than the hundred or so in cash!

I followed the visit up by cooking an 8 course feast with all the wonderful produce!!

I am currently planning my next trip...I can't wait much longer, this group will really help me decide on the best stalls to go to!

Now that the sun has come out again, time to think about picnics and real summer outdoor living.

I did a lunchtime visit yesterday, came back £30odd lighter but picked up:

A dressed crab, destined for this
A bag of mixed exotic mushrooms
Spring onions
A corn on the cob
Duck eggs
A wedge of Parmesan
A piece of Comté cheese
A gorgeous smelling vanilla pod (which I squashed on the way home!)

What I love about Borough is that you can pretty much get anything you need there - all the hard to find things that, certainly I find, are hard to buy locally sometimes.

I like Portobello and Parliament hill Markets Chris.

Minted? I wish. We both work in central London so by making lunch every day instead of buying it we save £20 each a week - and there's half of £80 already with the added bonus that I never have to eat from Pret.

The thing about Borough is it brings joy to my heart - really - and that's not something you can say about a supermarket. The quality of what is sold is simply brilliant and the pleasure of shopping there with friendly helpful service is unbeatable.

You can go there not knowing what you fancy and be inspired by all the possibilities on offer or just chat to a stallholder and they'll give you ideas and suggestions aplenty because they know what they are selling. And if the opposite is the case and you want something quite specific you can ask for it. The butchers will cut to your exact spec as will the fishmongers. You can buy the specific quantity of anything you require. If it is not available at the first stall you visit they will tell you where in the market you can find it.

It's not cheap - it doesn't pretend to be - but it is generally good value. And its definitely fabulous!

I love markets generally, the atmosphere, the backchat, the bargaining, being called 'love'. I tend to go to Portobello because it's open on a Friday. Many of the farmers markets are on a Saturday morning and that's a bit too late for The Underground Restaurant. I spend Saturday prepping.
