Another one in the bookshelf today! 'In the mood for entertaining' by Jo Pratt, is a really lovely book and nearly every dish makes me want to eat it right now! Think will get a lot of use from it too!
Even better its signed personally to me! :)

I agree with Victoria - From Seed to Plate is a great book - evocative and great if you have a passion for Italy. It was a perfect anniversary present from my parents to me and my husband as my husband has a vege plot, I cook the produce and we're going to Italy this summer. A further coincidence is that Paolo writes in the book about how he is a sufferer of Crohn's Disease, just like me and my mother. This sometimes entails being very careful about food and diet - something that I loathe doing, but have to conform to (from time to time)

Paolo Arrigo the head of Seeds of Italy who supply Franchi Seeds gave me a copy of his book From Seed to Plate last night and I think it is great - apart from being packed full of lovely recipes it has the most amazing black and white family photos showing things like rows of ladies hand picking seeds one by one to find the best ones to go into the packets - and another showing the seed packets being filled with a teaspoon of seeds then glued shut and left to dry! I love cookery books that have a story with them, it makes them so much more than a collection of recipes it builds an atmosphere and makes you want to read the book rather than just dip into it.

Just picked up a copy of the Leon Restaurant cookbook the other day after eating there for the first time last week (I know, I know - should have years ago). Can't wait to try and make the falafels and meatballs at home. :D

The bookshelf has expanded to breaking point again this week, picked up 'Delicious 5 of the best' for £3.50 in the BHF shop :)

Some really nice, easy recipes and provides good inspiration. Each section has the best 5 recipes tarts, cold starters, salmon, curries etc.

Thank you Marie :). I am very grateful for your suggestions. I will have to read little bit about those books.

On my shelf I have cookbooks:
"New Food of Life: Ancient Persian and Modern Iranian Cooking and Ceremonies " by Najmieh Batmanglij
"New step-by-step cookbook" by Good Housekeeping (which I love!)
"Italian" by Carla Capalbo (I am not big fun of it)
"Kuchnia Polska" by Ewa Aszkiewicz (Polish book with 1001 recipes for Polish cuisine) This book is like bible for me.

Hi all, what is in your opinion the best baking cookbook? With step-by-step decriptions and photos? I need one and comprehensive book.
