There is another website that looks cheaper and acts like they're in the UK. They are infact based in the US, so not only will it take ages for the goods to arrive, but you'll probably be charged some pesky customs tax. That is, if they actually ship it. Many people have placed an order, paid the money, then heard nothing!
Prokit were a little more expensive, but they delivered really quick and the light was in one piece...
I've just bought a Lowel Ego light which was "relatively" inexpensive, compared to professional lighting. It gives you the benefit of not having to shoot inside a small lightbox, so you're much more open to using props etc to make photos look better...
(if you were referring to the photos from restaurant reviews though, they're not mine! I'm making a habit of contacting the restaurants are asking for photos, before posting the review. They seem to be quite willing to help!)
I'm still finding the whole experience of taking photos a challenge, but it's getting easier. Unfortunately I haven't had so much time to cook, but I have been thinking a lot about ways to take better photos!
I see that you have placed lots of work into your blog!
Well done to you.
Warm regards,
Mike.
